Iv been looking to buy an iPad 2 and jailbreak it. After research iv been interested in a used iPad 2 16gb wifi only. I see them going for around 400-450 on ebay and craigslist. Do you guys think that after the iPad 3 release that price will drop more or stay pretty close to that price range?

It seems like the prices tend to get dropped on the remaining stock, at least in the past. Someone mentioned around $100 each model.
If thats the case, the basic 16gb wifi would be $399.

I seen a deal today on dealnews for $429, not too shabby.
free shipping and no tax, sounded good to me.

Yes prices for a used iPad 2 will drop to the $ 300s for the 16gb wifi once iPad 3 if officially released.

The prices will hit rock bottom. There will be people desperate to get rid off their iPad 2's to buy the 3 one. In London the second hand iPad 2 market went nuts yesterday. One can snag virtually any iPad regardless of configuration for no more than £399 which is the retail price for a new 16GB WiFi, and this is even before a retail price drop.

So, let's say the iPad 2-16gb sticks around at $399, what's the next price point for the iPad 3-32gb? $499? or staying at $599? I wouldn't see Apple putting out an iPad 3-16gb, while keeping the iPad 2 as the entry level device.

i picked up a new ipad 1 64gb wifi from verizon for 399 a couple months after ipad 2 launched. That may be the case this time too. I would bite on a 64 ipad 2 at 399.

Traditionally, Apple always discounts their older models in order to not directly compete with their newer models. You'll definitely see a $100 price drop or more on the iPad 2 once the iPad 3 comes out.
