I read somewhere that it could just be a typo since no official announcement has been made by Apple. Also, I have yet to see evidence that it said March before?

I have not seen this before. But it´s a pritty brutal "Typo" esp. if unfixed for two weeks. (and unnoticed by the iMop)

Not that the iPad 1 release wassend pushed back again and again without them giving reasons...

But the iPad 1 release was way different. Apple never gave out a specific date. It was just April for some international releases. Much easier to push back.
This time Apple gave a firm date of March 25.
Plus, why do you think there is this huge delay for orders in the US?
It's because Apple has been putting iPads aside for the international launch.
