I have a jailbroken ipad 2 that I want to restore but how do I do it

I guess if I just click restore on itunes it would be upgraded to ios 6 but I want to keep ios 5 on it

cheers

hashes, blobs or SHSH

you need it to restore to anything lower than iOS6.

If you don't have them you are SOL

Look at the top of the Cydia home page to see if you see any hashes saved.

Then once the newest Redsn0w is released, you should be able to restore to 5.1.1 firmware

How do i save them off the device.
The ipad has a charging issue keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and its not the cable. Is the only way to get rid of the jailbreak is to upgrade to ios 6.

If Apple replace the ipad under warranty with a refurb will that have ios 5 or 6 on it

Try cleaning out the 30 pin port on bottom - very carefully and gently.
Upgrading the firmware will likely not fix the charging issue (either debris or hardware - bad or bent pin)

As long as the hash is shown in Cydia, it is saved.
No need to worry about it, however, if you want it on your computer, download TinyUmbrella, Advanced Tab, check request SHSH from Cydia, will dl it to your hard drive

I know upgrading won't repair it but it will need the jailbreak removed to take it to a Apple store to the genius bar and i take it my only option is ios 6 now no way to restore to 5.1.1 without the jailbreak

Well you have 2 choices:

Take it in as it is and they "might" try to clean out the connector dock, or not (Apple does not care about jailbroken iDevices nearly as much as many claim)

Update it to iOS6

If Apple replaces it, you might get a replacement with 5.1.1 still on it.
