Hello community,

I don't really sync my iPad 2 too often, maybe once or twice a month, but earlier this morning I plugged it to my computer via the provided USB cable and when it showed in iTunes, instead of syncing, it showed as a new iPad and asked did I want to set-up my iPad by restoring from the last back up, which was December 12. Does anyone know what may have happened? If you don't back-up your iDevice for a while does iTunes forget it existed or something? Also is there anything I can do to prevent me having to restore from the last back up, because I would hate to lose everything I've accumulated since last month.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you choose 'set up as new iPad' it should just bypass this and do nothing. However, I'd be wary. Have you got data backed up to iCloud?
