I've been told by an apple employee that the verizon ipad will not be able to tether over 3g -- is this also accurate of the att version? Any rumors of them being allowed to do this?

I tether my ipad2 via bluetooth to my rooted Droid. Did it a few times this weekend, worked just fine.

VZW doesn't want you to do this, therefore they'll tell you that you can not. But, I assure you, you can.

As far as I'm aware, none of the iPads can host a hotspot or do tethering, but they can connect to an iPhone Hotspot.

TEG

There was a story on ilounge over the weekend that ATT is enabling the hotspot on the iPad, I'm just trying to figure out if you can add it with the unlimited plan, or if you need to switch to the 2g.

But i don't see any threads on it....

I guess maybe clarification from the OP would be helpful.

I read it as he is looking to tether data from a verizon cell phone. Some of you might have read it as "host".. Big difference.

OP - which are you looking for?
