iPad iPad 2: "The iPad cound not be updated. This Device is not eligible..."

So that you don't go crazy next time, are you using TinyUmbrella and did you leave the "Set Cydia hosts on exit" checkbox... checked?
If so, that was you original issue and an uncheck to that option would leave the hosts file intact.
