iPad iPad 2 won't update from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1

My mom was on my Apple ID since she got her iPad 2, but now I've kicked her off and made her her own Apple ID. Now when I'm trying to update her OTA to 6.0.1 from 5.1.1 it keeps failing. I can't update her iPad 2 via my computer because it's linked to MY Apple ID and I want her to be separate, so... wat do?

Summary: iPad 2 no update to 6.0.1 from WiFi, how can make work.

Just update it using the computer and then delete your Apple ID from her iPad after you are done. I don't think it will try to save your Apple ID if you are just using it to update the iPad iOS. Just don't sync it. I have updated my friend's iPhone iOS using my computer without syncing the phone with my computer and it didn't save my Apple ID in their phone.

I'm trying that now, thanks for the tip, it seems to be working.

I hope it doesn't sync any of my music to my mom's iPad, we have... differing tastes in music...

It went into recovery mode when I did it via my computer but then it updated after my second attempt.
