iPad 3: Expedited Shipping?

I never get an option to upgrade the shipping, so far as I can tell, and I've looked... It says its shipping with free standard 5 day shipping.

Where is this changed? How do I change it?
 
Delivered on the 16th? As in it will be at my house on the 16th?

Edit: So why would anyone ever wait in line at the store if they could just have it delivered on the same day?

Estimated delivery March 19-21

My order status (shipping to Switzerland) is showing delivery "between March 19-21".
Anyone else with the same delivery date estimates?

Some people don't have anyone available to wait for delivery on that day. Or they miss out on the preorder somehow -- at some point, the iPads set aside for delivery on launch day are going to run out, and anyone preordering after that will get a delivery date later than March 16. Once that happens, the only way to get one on launch day is to line up.

So basically, the people in the ridiculously long lines are there because of bad planning? Or is this the first time Apple has allowed for pre-orders?

... this is all very confusing to me! I'd much rather wait at home for a delivery than wait in a line to pick one up!

Some people like to stand in the long lines for the fun of being part of a communal experience: people sharing the same interest and chatting, the atmosphere can be fun, cheering every person who comes out of the store with a new iPad, etc. Lots of people aren't even aware of preorders, or they find out after the initial stock is gone and ship dates get pushed back beyond launch date.

I'll believe it when I see it on my front porch. My pre order says "ordered 8/3/2012" and I haven't received a shipped email yet. It does say delivers on the 16th on the order page though.

If you use the default (free) shipping method you'll get it on the 16th. When these things come out you'll always get it on the day it's supposed to become available regardless of the shipping method you pick, and selecting any "expedited" method is a waste.

Having it engraved should have no effect on the arrival date. It probably gets engraved by laser right before being packed into the box.

some people will be too late

some people just like the trill

some people like to have their device as early as they possibly can (aka wait from the night before)

For those people i can say apple has the best launches of any company

I had mine engraved and haven't received any sort of shipment confirmation email, so that sounds like a load of BS.

My shipping method got upgraded out of the blue. Went from "Standard" to "Expedited" ... Ordered a Black 16 GB Wifi+4G, non-engraved 2 hours after the announcement. I live in Toronto, Canada but I haven't heard of other Canadians getting their shipping upgraded....... =/
