So I returned my mini and got a new iPad 4... Meanwhile I still have my 3.

So I put my old Smart Cover on my new iPad 4 and a new different color Smart Cover on the 3...

Guess what? iPad 3 feels like the new iPad and for most tasks can't even tell the speed difference unless they are compared both side by side.

Spend a little and get yourself a new cover/case and you won't even crave for a new iPad 4 anymore!

Web browsing is significantly faster on my 4 than my 3. It was worth the extra $50 for me.
