Just blowing on it fixed it? Haha. If only so many more technical problems were that easy to fix!
If it stops working, the best fix in my opinion is this: take some rubbing alcohol (preferably 90+ higher alcohol percentage), and put literally just one drop (no more) in the middle of the home button. Then take a new pencil and use the eraser end to press the home button quite a few times. Call it ten or so. Then take a paper tower or something and wipe off the access alcohol. Alcohol like that is quick to dry, don't worry about whatever is left under the button.
My iPad 2 home button has been fixed many a time using the same method. Cheers!
Before you fix it, take it in to Apple and see about getting it replaced under warranty. A hardware problem is going to happen more frequently, not less frequently.
