Decided I'd upgrade my 64GB AT&T iPad2 .. pre-ordered (and received) both the 64GB AT&T and Verizon 3rd gen iPad, which I'll be testing over the next few days, after which I'll return one of them.
I've always upgraded with each new update and my biggest considerations in choosing would be the (1) NYC metro area LTE connectivity speeds of either the AT&T or Verizon versions, realizing that while both are globally GSM capable, the latter would drop to a slower CDMA speed outside Verizon's LTE coverage area, and of course, (2) resale value a year from now for either of them when the 4th Gen is released.
Anyway, maybe someone could shed light on something I noticed - looked at the model numbers of the types of the 64GB 3rd Gen iPads and was wondering why the all the white models and all the AT&T WiFi+4G are designated differently (eg MD.. instead of MC.. where the MD models are typically newer models compared to the MC models)
MC707LL/A Black WiFi only
MD330LL/A White WiFi only
MC756LL/A Black WiFi + Verizon 4G
MD365LL/A White WiFi + Verizon 4G
MD368LL/A Black WiFi + AT&T 4G (as well as those released outside the US)
MD371LL/A White WiFi + AT&T 4G
All I could find searching the Net was that this is may be related to the bootrom used. Then again, maybe it's just an arbitrary assignment of the model number and has nothing to do with different hardware at all.
Appreciate any info from the more knowledgeable members of the forum.
Regards
