Hi!

I'm a Canadian university student and I will be leaving for a year-long exchange to England in a couple of weeks. While there, I intend to do a lot of traveling around Europe. I will be bringing my Macbook Pro and getting a cheap pay-as-you-go cellphone.

I am really interested in the iPads. Do you think it's worth purchasing right now? Do you think a new one will come out soon? Do you think it's a handy tool to have for a student, especially while traveling and whatnot?

You guys likely know more than me about this, so I appreciate all advice!

Thanks :)

I am in London right now, traveling with my iPad 4G LTE. You can get easily get a pay-as-you-go micro SIM for the iPad here, or just goto local Starbucks. You can also get another SIM card from the discount operator for cheap voice calls. For example, Lebara only cost 6p per min for calls to the US.

But I don't know how you use your MBP. Maybe iPad just don't have all the apps you need as a complete laptop replacement. But for all the basic functions, iPad is more than capable.
