iPad 3 Sim Card in iPhone 5?

Has anyone tried cutting down their iPad sim card from the iPad 3 and inserting it into their iPhone 5?

I would like to use an iPhone data only and was hoping that my Verizon sim card in my iPad would register on Verizon's LTE network.
