iPad 3 wi fi issues after updating to iOS6

Just updated my dad's iPad 3 to iOS6.

I can connect to my home wi fi connection fine, however can't connect to the internet.

Both my iPad and my laptop are sitting right next to the router. The laptop's internet connection is absolutely fine, with no intermittent cut-outs, but the iPad won't connect. I managed to get about 5 mins of connectivity, but now it's gone back to not working. Tried on the Safari and Chrome apps, as well as other apps that require internet (eg. Fine my IPhone/iPad/iCloud).


Any help?

I have reset network settings.

My netgear router's security encryption is WPA-PSK (which I believe is the same as TKIP) rather than WPA2-AES which I believe is the encryption method that was having the problems.
