So I have an AT&T (GSM) iPhone 4 32GB with the unlimited data plan and I just picked up an AT&T iPad 2 64 GB with no data plan activated yet. I would like to have the wifi hotspot on either device, I don't care which one. If I choose my iPhone then I gotta go from unlimited @ $30 per month to 4GB @$45 per month, I loose my unlimited data plan permantly. If I keep my unlimited data on my phone and go with iPad 2 I would get 4GB @ $45 per month plus my $30 iPhone plan. To be honest I dont think I would use the wifi hotspot all that much, I am just a techy and I would really like to be able to tether my MacBook Pro and surf the web if I find my self outside of a wifi area. Just as a point I do not want to jailbreak either device. What would you guys do?

no easy answer you gonna need to hack to get both worlds but you cant have both the apple/att way.

if you use over 2gb of data id keep the unlimited.
