Then why is verizon selling them??

The iPad that Verizon sells is the normal WiFi one. It doesn't have a 3G radio or GPS. They bundle it with a MiFi unit that connects to Verizon's 3G radio and allows multiple WiFi devices to connect to it's hotspot, thus letting you surf with Verizon's network.

If you buy an "iPad WiFI + 3G" with the black bar at the top, it can connect directly to the AT&T network and has GPS.

I would imagine that the next iPad will be able to connect to the Verizon network directly, or at least there will be a version that can.

The fact that Verizon is selling the WiFi only iPad without GPS is a deal breaker to me. GPS is one of the items on the iPad that I use a lot and would be lost without it.

Pun intended. :D
