I have an iPad 3rd generation (64GB) on IOS 5.1.1.......It's currently Jailbroken but to be honest I have very few Jailbroken apps on it.......I'm thinking about upgrading to 7.1.1....I'm not fussed if it can be Jailbroken....But my main concern is will my iPad be okay on 7.1.1 ?
My son says it will slow it down.......Is this so ?
Also can it be Jailbroken (7.1.1) like I said not a must.

Thanks in advance.

7.1.1 cannot be jailbroken yet.

i still have my 3rd gen iPad, 7.1.1 is a lot better then 7.0.x, i mean the performance is worse then it was on iOS 5.1.1 but its still usable

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to give it a go.

Cheers.

Could you please provide feedback the on the performance versus 5.1.1 once you updated to 7.1.1? I'm also still on 5.1.1 and I'm not sure if I want to update if the performance is noticeably decreased. Any feedback you could give would be great. :) Thanks

I was using a 3rd Gen with 7.1 until I bought an Air about 3 weeks ago, and it ran fine for me. I can't compare it to 5.1.1 however, since that was so long ago since I had it now. I did have some random browser crashing, but my problems weren't nearly as bad or often as some people have reported. I wasn't using Safari (I used Atomic Browser), so that may have had something to do with it.

I use an iPad 3 with iOS 7.1.1. I also have a retina iPad mini (work iPad) with iOS 7.1.1. I don't remember what the iPad 3 was like with iOS 5 (or even iOS 6), but I don't feel that the operating system operations are any slower between the iPad 3 and the retina iPad mini.

A clean install fixed. Any problems I had with my iPad 3rd gen on ios 7. I hadn't cleanly installed it ever after an update, so I'm sure that helped :)
