iPad 4 VGA adapter -> black screen, iPad non responsive

Hello!

I have connected my iPad 4 to a TV using the lightning to VGA adapter. It was working today until I unplugged it and wanted to connect it again a few minutes later. No the screen on the TV is black and the iPad is non-responsive. Unplugging the adapter and the iPad is back to normal. The blue bar at the top appears normally, but nothing happens afterwards.
The iPad is on 7.0.3. Has anyone suffered from similar problems? Connecting a laptop to the TV is working flawlessly.

Edit: Just saw that I posted this in the iOS7 section. Maybe it would be better suited in the iPad section. Sorry for that.
