As an recent iPad 3 owner Im seeing the funny side of todays news.

Now that we've all pretty much been knocked for six by today's revelations lets speculate on the next model.

Specs, release date, design, features, what do you expect or want to see in iPad FIFTH generation?

I'll be pissed if it's not lighter and thinner.

And we all know the next big innovation is direct-sunlight screens. All apple products are useless outside of the shade.

It better not be MUCH better than iPad 4, and it better not come to quick

yeah i dont get the hooplah about people. i wasnt going to upgrade until the ipad 5.. for all we know it will be out this spring like usual ipads..or next fall like this one.. so we will get a real upgrade sooner.. not some ipad 3s (4th gen)

You might as well wait for the iPad 6 which should arrive 6 months after the iPad 5. ;)

1. Will be announced at fall 2013 event.
2. Redesigned. Thinner and lighter.
3. 802.11ac.
4. Integrated touch screen like iPhone 5.
5. Unified cellular model (7 LTE bands, 3 CDMA bands, 4 GSM/UMTS bands).
6. Smart Cover with keyboard.
7. iOS 7.

No... to early to think about an iPad 5. People are still stocking up on tissues after hearing about the 4!

Lol. If you're referencing what happened today I don't see the 4 as MUCH better. Much better would have to include more than just a better processor and front facing camera. Perhaps as light as a pound. Thinner. Better screen tech like the iPhone 5 has. Longer battery life, not that it absolutely needs it but it never hurts.

Hold on Mr. MacAttacka! You're not supposed to ask us what we think, you're supposed to TELL us the FACTS like you did regarding the iPad Mini! C'mon, show us iSheep the true way! Surely you don't think we've forgotten about your powers of prediction.

I'm hoping next year's updates include storage. It's been three years since the iPhone got more storage for the same price. The iPad has been stuck for all four iterations. I know flash price drops were used to give us other features for the same price. In a year, someone explain to me why this wont be a necessary change. The apps got larger thanks to putting a retina display on the iPad and now having a new resolution for the iPhone. Throw me a bone so I can buy an iPhone 6 64GB for $299!

x2.

Nano has been at 16GB for 4 years.
Classic has been at 160GB for 5 years.
Touch has been at 64GB for 3 years.
iPad has been at 64GB for 2 - 2 1/2 years.

What has happened since this capacities were introduced?
- 256kbps DRM free music
- HD video
- HD displays causing apps to require more space

I think its ridiculous that they have been milking these capacities for this long.

Nfc?

Considering I can buy a 128GB USB flash drive for $99 down the road - surely next year is the year for iDevices?
