iPad Ipad 5th gen fix or 8th gen?

So my mother has had her 5th gen iPad for just over 2 years, and we ordered her a new iPad from Apple and its going to arrive on the second week of January. The fix at apple was more expensive btw. Today we saw at iSmash Sloane sq London that they fix for 89 pounds!! Should I go with this or is the new 8th gen worth it and we can sell the fixed iPad maybe. My mother watches live tv bout 4 hours a day and the rest is Pinterest and a lot of facebook so no professional use. Cheers!

Keep the iPad 8 and try to sell he old 5. She will love it. Long battery life to sit back and enjoy her personal use all day with no worry.

If you can get it fixed for cheap - why not. Make sure you are not letting anyone get to the data of course.

Third party repairs can be iffy plus the 5th gen is getting closer to the point when it'll stop receiving firmware updates (although it will likely still received app updates for the next 3 years),

Personally, I'd just trade in the iPad 5th gen in as-is condition.

Trade in the iPad 5 and get the iPad 8.

The 8 is the way I'd go. Sell the 5 to offset the cost of the 8. Just tell the buyer the cost to repair it.

If you can afford it I’d recommend instead the iPad Mini 5. Your mother will love the lightness of the tablet! I also have an iPad 7 which I almost never use anymore.

I wouldn't screw around with dicey 3rd party repairs. Invest the money instead in the latest new regular iPad (iPad 8). Latest processor and Apple's 1 year warranty.
