i got a truck, need a radio. ive been using an ipod touch (2014?) for engine gauges but its broken.

amazon has referb ipads 6th gen for 90 bucks. im thinking of using this to play music (flac, wav) and run an app for my engine tuner/transmission info.

so is it worth buying a wifi/cell 32gb ipad and using a lightning doc for SD card storage expansion to just sit in the dash of the truck? or would i need a newer model? i like the price point of this.

thoughts?

im fine with used products, hard to sift ebay tho

6th gen iPad works for music and tuner. 32GB is tight, but SD dock is fine. Good at $90, but 7th gen is better long-term.

My 8th generation iPad seems to be slower when online after downloading iPadOS 18. I already have to connect it to my Mini in order to get upgrades/updates to be applied without offloading a bunch of stuff to provide sufficient space. I'm beginning to long for a new model.

ill pick up the 6th then, has wifi and cell so that will help things. i tried finding referb 7th on amazon but couldnt. the naming scheme for these things makes it very hard to sort out when looking through used
