Is there an official date when the iPad Air 2 will be available in store? I'm assuming it's next Friday but I haven't seen anything to confirm it.

I was wondering the same thing, so I looked on Apple's site. If you click on chat now, when you are in the iPad Air 2 section, the FAQs actually answer the question. Friday the 25th is the date that was given.
Sorry, it was the 24th. Funny, I went to the same chat window and the information isn't there. I'm on chat now. I will update when I know more.
Wow. That was the most frustrating experience. Since they close at 10PM PST, 2 chat windows timed out and the last one had me in contact with their least trained employee. She claimed the pre-order dates had not been determined. Once again, wow...
Why in the world can't Apple just post the date on the website?!?!?

Yeah it's stupid the way they did this especially since the hardware was leaked months in advance and shells have been floating around forever they could have done day of release. There was no secrecy and no surprises, the only question people care about now is RAM
I would bet it will be like it has been in the past and they will be displayed in the stores the same day most are delivered to the users who ordered via the Internet.
Don't Apple preorders usually last one week before they release?

I pre-ordered through Best Buy and just got this email:

I will be down at my local Apple store on Thursday. Launch Day according to Apple guy I spoke to a couple of days ago. All configurations will be available to purchase in store. I wonder about that!
Still very undecided about the colour. Got to be 64gb that's for sure. Will get a dark blue Apple case so whether it's silver or gold is a bit irrelevant. Fancy the white bezel this time around.
