iPad iPad Air 2 Case sticky?

Upon using my new leather Apple case for the first time today, I noticed that after touching it, it left my fingers feeling like there was a possible coating of something on them....will this wear off over time? I placed my iPad in the case, but am wondering if this "coating" (or dye, whatever it may be causing this) will harm my iPad in any way. Thanks!
