Hi there,
Just wanted to share some thoughts on my iPad Air 2. I have owned it for a year now and ever since Microsoft Office and iOS 9 came out, this machine has surprisingly replaced my Mac Mini to do most of my work.
Recently I have replaced my Mini HDD to SSD and have not installed many programs ever since. My iPad on the other hand has more productive apps as most of them are free or available at much lower price compared to the ones on Mac. Since I am too lazy and reluctant to reinstall or to buy those programs again on my Mac, I decided to give my iPad a go to finish some basic work.
It turned out that the apps available now are pretty great for me to do my stuffs. Microsoft Word has enough features for me to write reports that I can save to PDF and upload it to my personal Dropbox storage. Microsoft Outlook allows me to upload any files that I previously have saved to my Dropbox account. Pixelmator is good enough for me to do some light photo editing that I do not miss my Photoshop on my computer that much. Scanner Pro makes iPad a document scanner that I can quickly scan and send it to my friends via email.
Some neat features in iOS 9 really boost iPad's productivity. For example the side-to-side apps allow me to write documents in Word while reading articles on Safari. The added bluetooth keyboard support make me feel that I can edit documents just like I do on desktop.
As someone who does not really require specific programs, I feel that iPad is becoming more capable to do light productivity and have replaced my Mac for most tasks. I have yet to see and test the iPad Pro so I cannot comment on how the new device can boost the productivity over the Air 2. But as for now, I am really satisfied on how iPad has become more capable to do things that makes me feel I do not need to bring a laptop whenever I am outside!
PS: Of course I still need a real computer at home!
