I've seen a few threads on here about this, but I'm wondering if the actual data has changed.
I bought a 128GB Silver WiFi only model iPad Air 2. The model I bought had a screen ripple/distortion in certain areas of the screen (normal pressure on certain spots causes that LCD ripple effect that you don't ever want to have happen on an LCD screen, especially one that has to be touched on the regular). I got it swapped at the Genius Bar. Very soon thereafter this unit exhibited the same issues (albeit in a different spot). Took that in to get it swapped, now the current unit has the same issue. I've already called Apple Customer relations (as this is the third consecutive defective unit that has had the same issue) and I'm going to go into the Genius Bar to have them verify the persistence of the issue before proceeding further.
I realized that quite a few have had this issue, but is it really THIS widespread?
I am due to buy a cellular iPad mini 4 (as I've listed it prematurely in my signature) to compliment the WiFi-only Air 2 ANYWAY, so if Apple customer relations opts to get me a different product, I suppose that's a convenient option. Either that or I could pay a couple hundred towards an iPad Pro (though that seems a trite bit overkill for my needs).
I've had Apple Customer Relations replace products before in exchange for more modern equivalents after at least three repeat repairs, but I've never had the situation arise where the affected product also happened to be the most recently released rev of it. Does anyone have this kind of experience with Apple Customer relations WITH A CURRENT GEN/REV PRODUCT?
Does this screen ripple/distortion issue also happen on the iPad mini 4? I know the iPad Pro is not yet released, but is there any reason to assume that it would have this issue as well? I only ask as I know that all three have screen lamination in common (though my sixth gen iPod touch and Mid 2014 Retina MacBook Pro both have that feature and do not have this issue). Any insight in this issue, Apple Customer relations, or the iPad Pro/mini 4 would be much appreciated. Thanks!
