iPad iPad Air 2 turns on when plugged in, normal?

Hi all. Please forgive me as I am getting used to my first iPad, an Air 2.

I have noticed that when the iPad is turned off and I plug the charging cord into it, it turns on by itself. I was wondering if this is normal. It seems so random. Any thoughts?

First, congratulations on your first iPad. Hope it's providing you with an enjoyable experience.

Secondly, yes that's perfectly normal. Any iOS device turns on when plugged in. However, if you want to charge your iPad while it's off, plug it in first, then turn it off.
