Which one would you get?
The Air 2 is thinner and has a better screen.
The New iPad has a better processor (A9 vs A8x) and brighter.
I'll probably go for whichever one is cheaper on Black Friday.

The more I use iOS 11, the more I believe that if you want a lasting device, you need one with 4 gb of RAM.

It has to be a pro.

On my iPad Air 2, I only have 400Mb of free RAM once the Operating System has loaded.

On an iPad Pro at work, there is over 2 Gb of RAM free.

The iPad 9.7 2017 has no more future than the iPad Air 2. The Air 2 is a nicer machine over all, with the size, weight, and non-reflective screen.

How are you going to use it?

I must admit that, especially with iOS 11, I've become impartial to the iPad Pro.

Gaming, browsing, music. I might consider a Pro if there is a good Black Friday Deal.

Another vote for iPad Pro. I've used the original iPad and the iPad 3, and this by far the better experience. I was considering getting he new iPad due its low price but I'm really impressed with the Pro. That said, I reckon the new iPad will be a good machine as well. I can't see anything lower than that if you have the money.

The CPU of the iPP Pro and double the RAM is IMO enough to justify the expenditure if you are gaming, IMO. IIRC it has something like a 90% multicore performance improvement over the A9x. Even under heavier CPU loads, I must say I am very satisfied with the battery life. And the screen...good god it is gorgeous! I've not really taken advantage of the 120 hz refresh rate, but I imagine it could be useful for some gaming purposes.

With that said, if money is a factor, the current entry level iPad is an outstanding product...it's just a far cry from the iPP IMHO.
