iPad Air 3 and iPhone 11 Pro (16.1 Beta 1) backing up to Mini requires a Password.

As the title said, backing up my iPhone and iPad to my Mini (13.0 beta 7) now wants a password to sync / backup? Never have seen this before. Yes, I had to use the same iPad and iPhone password used for login on them. It worked but wondering is this a NEW feature?

Backing up phone encrypted to Mac has always needed a password.

I don’t and have never encrypted my backups. This was the first time that I have seen this on my system.

Yes, you're right that if you don't encrypt, you shouldn't need a password. Maybe Apple sets encrypted as a default now? I do it that way because it picks up almost all passwords, etc and makes setting up a new phone a breeze -- and faster than the side-by-side method.
