I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue with their selfie cameras on iPad Air 4.

In my case, I was trying the selfie camera in front of a window during daytime. I tapped to focus on the background (which was the sky) basically I meant a backlit situation.

my whole face and clothing would have a purple(magenta) hue. like I'm barney the dinosaur.
I tested on my iPhone and iPad Air 3. Neither has the same issue: face might appear a bit darker but no purple hue.

Do you think this is a hardware issue (like selfie camera coating or something?)
or a software issue (like overcompensate?)?

That is normal if the camera isn't focused on you. In this case, it is focused on the background, so that is why.
