I can't wait to get to a store to check these out, but I was just curious if any iPad Air owners (likely with large hands too) can hold it with one hand and with the iPad between your thumb and index/middle fingers. The reduced width of the iPad Air makes this rev much more attractive.

I currently have an iPad Mini which is very easy for me to hold in this manner. If I went with the iPad Air, I'd prefer not to have to only grip it on one edge when holding 1-handed. Thanks!

Funny you ask this - I watched a video review last night on the Air and the guy was holding it like that with one hand. Seeing as I am 6'1" with fairly large hands I was wondering the same thing myself.

I have somewhat small hands for my height, and I can easily hold it with 1 hand.

You can still hold it one hand if you have small hands look :p

Well, yeah, I know it can easily be held in that orientation (small or large hands). :)

What about in "portrait" orientation? Come up a little short when trying to span across the back?

I was being sarcastic :p

Here you go, I am 6 foot 5 so my hands are large :)

I know ;)

Cool! I'm 6'2" with somewhat long fingers. Hopefully can hold the same! May be the deal-maker of the Air over the Mini 2.

You'll be fine, to be honest I never use my ipad in portrait, ALWAYS landscape. Seems odd if I use it the other way.

Hmmm. I have had my Air since 09:30 this morning and not convinced about the shape. It's actually harder to hold for me than the old full size one - at least in portrait mode. The fact that it's narrower seems to make it heaver somehow.

I have Mini too and I think I'm preferring that. So bit convinced this is a keeper.

I find it funny that people want to hold a 9.7” iPad with 2 fingers yet many complain that lighter 5” plus Android phones are getting too large to old with one hand.

So sorry, random and totally unrelated but I noticed your tattoo... did it hurt? I wan't a tattoo in that exact location of a yin yang sign but I am super scared.

lol no, I have a full sleeve on my other arm and several all over the place. Addicted once you start :)

Hard to hold this way but just played with one and lighter and narrower than I imagined. Better to hold than iPad 3/4. But very long so limits some portability.

Well just for reference... I am 5'9" with normal to somewhat smaller hands. I can grip my fingers around the entire device in portrait. Not comfortably of course...but if you wanted to know for size reasons here you go. You can see in the reflection I am holding the iPhone 5 if you need some size reference.

Anyone with slightly bigger hands will easily be able to hold it that way. Seriously this thing almost looks like the iPad Mini. Maybe it's just an illusion because they are the same design now. I freaking LOVE this thing though... so much better than my iPad 4.

Can't wait to load all my comics on it and finally read without holding a bulky brick.

Actually, I think the complaint is that the 5" Android phones are hard to USE with one hand. Not hold with one hand.

No one expects to USE a tablet with just one hand unless it is sitting on something.

EDIT: Uh, you changed your post. I haven't heard anyone complain about holding a 5"inch phone. It is one handed use (and big pocket bulges) that are the issue. Plus, speaking for myself, I use a phone quite a bit differently than a tablet. I bet I'm not the only one.

5"+ phones are too large to use and hold with the same hand. Whereas with a tablet the expectation is to hold with one and use with the other, never use and hold with the same hand.

Yes and I'm a little dude.
