iPad Air Lock Screen lag

I have been recently having issues with my iPad Air. It is running 7.1.2. Whenever I reboot the device, and enter in my passcode, the screen freezes and, takes over 5 minutes to load. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? I really need to stay on iOS 7 because, I do not want to be stuck with the new iBooks app (Autoinstalled on iOS 8). :apple:
