I have a new iPad Air, also AppleCare+, but cannot get either chat or phone support through the getsupport.apple.com web site.
This is because it makes you enter your serial number, and the validation check fails with this error:
"We're sorry, but that product is not yet supported by this online service."
I called the AppleCare number 1-800-275-2273 and talked to a support manager, also went to my local retail store and talked to the Genius Bar manager.
My concern was it might be a widespread IT problem that could prevent many people from getting support via the normal on-line channel. The consensus was it seems abnormal, and they will investigate.
Has anyone else with an iPad Air successfully obtained either chat or phone support by going through the web site?
It works fine for my two iMacs, inc'l a brand-new 2013 iMac 27. It just doesn't work for the iPad Air due to the failed s/n validation.
