Now both devices are released by Apple and on paper only difference between two seems to be physical size of display and nothing else. Same processor, same battery life, same storage space, same screen resolution. So does iPad Air makes sense compared to more miniature version of same in iPad Mini ?

Does it make sense? Yes, if you want a bigger screen it makes perfect sense.

You'd basically be paying an extra $100 for an extra two inches. I'm on the fence though. Although iPad air has a bigger screen, iPad mini has a higher resolution because the pixels are closer together. I still can't get over the fact that they made the air thinner than the iPhone 5s.

Some are speculating there might be differences in RAM. This is why I'm on the fence. 2GB would go a long way towards upgrading to iOS 9 and maybe 10.
