I will start from the beggining , i last tried to update my ipad air a year ago, at that time it became a brick , couldnt restore from icloud back up, had to start from scratch, over 2 weeks help from apple nothing , the only thing i could do was start from scratch :( , now in the last few days my iPad became laggy buggy & crashing, so i thought it needs updating ,now ive updated to ios 8.3 its laggy , keeps crashing and takes 4 times to turn on , its really starting to annoy me , i think its the ipad itself, also i deleted all my photos to clear some GB, so there is some free space available. Cheers

It will run like crap if you fill it up to the max and it runs out of space. That's what it sounds the problem is here.
Restore it with itunes and setup as new to remove any software bugs. And leave some space free or you will keep having the same issues.
