I have an original 128 GB / Cellular iPad Air which I recently updated to IOS 10.1.1. It was working fine for almost a week after the update, but when I let it run completely out of battery two days ago, the Wifi option is now grayed out. I tired power cycling, resetting the network settings (multiple times) and restoring from my iTunes backup to no avail.

Is this a known issue with 10.1.1?

What are my next steps, if any?

I did not buy Apple Care, so is there any value taking it to the Genius Bar for analysis?

We had this issue with iPhone 4s at work, is Bluetooth greyed out too? The issue we had was all hardware based. Updating tended to over work the phone and break the WiFi Bluetooth chip. Maybe the same with yours? Could try downloading the ipsw file and seeing if to u can reinstall iOS. WiFi might work during installation?
