iPad iPad and Apple TV FaceTime issue

My son has an iPad and we have the newest model of Apple TV with ATV 10 installed.

His iPad has 17.0.1 installed also.

When we use our iPhones we can do the FaceTime calls via the ATV, but when he uses his iPad it says the microphone isn’t connected and won’t work?

His iPad has parental controls so maybe it’s something there? But he can FaceTime fine without the TV involved.

Any idea?
