iPad and HD movies

Greetings everyone,

I have a 1st gen iPad that will stream 1080P HD movies over home sharing just fine. When I try to store the same movies on the iPad for viewing later, it says that it was not transferred because the iPad cannot read the file. These are movies I have made from blu-ray using handbrake.

Is this normal? Why do the movies stream fine but not store on the iPad? I am assuming it has something to do with my iMac doing most the work when streaming and the iPad can't handle it if they are stored on it locally.

Did you have the "large file size" box checked in Handbrake when you ripped your movie? I'm far from an expert, but this seems to prevent transfer to the iPad even though it will stream just fine.

Especially files that are over 4 GB.
