Just curious if anyone is using their iphone4 as a wifi hotspot for their ipad2 and how well or poorly it may be working. I'm thinking of not bothering with getting the wifi +3g model for the ipad2 and just paying for the tethering as I need it since for the most part, I'll have wifi access when using the ipad and would only turn tethering on sporadically. Thanks!

I've read good and bad things about it.

Good: It just works.
Bad: Can be a big battery drainer.

Overall, if you don't mind losing unlimited data on your phone or don't already have it, go for it. You get 4GBs* to use between the 2 devices which should be enough.

For what's it worth, I opted for the wi-fi only model and will activate tethering when I need it. I've had the iPad for over a month and still haven't needed to tether or think "I wish I had 3G on this thing."

It works very well but can chew through the battery pretty quickly with WiFi. Solution is to turn off the WiFi on both devices and use Bluetooth to tether.
