iPad Announcement Predictions

So I think these are plausible price points. Your thoughts?

$399 16 GB iPad 2 WiFi

$499 32 GB iPad 3 WiFi

$699 64 GB iPad 3 4G + WiFi

$799 128 GB iPad 3 4G + WiFi
 
It will have a Retina display, a camera upgrade and 1 GB RAM. It will have a faster A5x variant DUAL core processor but no A6 quad core. It will NOT have 128 GB option nor 4G LTE. You will start hearing a bunch of "rumors" (i.e. controlled leak) toward the beginning of next week saying that it will not have 4G LTE to buffer the announcement day disappointment. I don't think anyone really expects 128 GB, so the rumors on that will be silent.

And it WILL have a HOME button. :)

More likely it will be 8 GB as the base iPad 2 at $399 and then 16, 32, and 64 for the iPad 3 at $499, $599, and $699.
 
I don't believe they increased the price when the Iphone got upgraded to retina display? I don't think they do it here either. Ipad 2 maybe getting a slight decrease in price, since the kindle fire was introduced. I seriously think we are looking at the same price points, if not then most people will overlook an Ipad 3 for a retina display and say either they will stick with an Ipad 2 or just buy an Ipad 2 vs and Ipad 3.
 
I highly doubt they would release an 8gb iPad 2 variant. That would be insane considering apps take way more space now a days and Apples textbook collaboration they are touting takes up around 1-2gbs for some textbooks. 8gb storage is WAY too low for a tablet. However, I don't think we will see a 128gb version this year. I'm not do sure I'm sold on 4G either; last I heard the small 4G chips that would use considerably less power to save battery are not even in mass production yet. If that's the case, there is no way Apple is shoving 4G chips in their top product yet. People will make due with 3G for another year; and they will love it. Apple will still sell millions more than the last version. Besides, 4G is not even widespread yet. Also, what about Sprint? Now that Sprint has the iPhone it only makes sense they'd get the next iPad. That's what happened to Verizon. Sprints LTE is non-existent at the moment, and probably won't roll out until Q4 of this year. Plus, LTE is hardly anywhere overseas. More countries just have 3G. No, I am saying it will be 3G still. Who cares anyway? 3G is totally bearable for what people use it for on their tablets; and with data caps it doesn't matter too much anyway.

Man, that would be too many models. Think about it, if they have black and white models of each, then that's 18 different products. The 12 (technically plus 6 more for Verizon 3G) that they have now is already kind of insane.

If they keep the 16GB model around, it won't be in 3 (6) different versions.

I removed 128GB model because I was kinda fooling around with that. $900 for a tablet is too crazy.

Also I don't think there will be 3G models expect for the iPad 2. iPad 3 will go 4G LTE.

So that would be 6 models of iPad 3. Also you can't count the iPad 2 because its already available in stock.

Hmm that might happen too.

Kinda like what they did with the iPhone. Personally I think 16GB is way too little for an iPad considering its mainly used for books, games, movies, etc. stuff that take quite some memory.
 
Im throwing in a prediction for the ATV3 as the "One more thing".

ATV2: $79
-Same machine, no apps
-Mountain Lion AirPlay

ATV3: $149:
-A5 or A6, Limited Channel Apps (Similar to iPad. ABC, Hulu, CBS, HBOGo etc)
-New remote with Mic to activate Siri
-1080p

I sold two of my ATV2's and both iPads so I'm ready to buy everything. :D

I'm hoping they manage to stuff LTE in it and keep the same prices. This will be my first iPad and I'd like to have LTE!
 
Year after year I haven't cared about LTE. However this year if they don't add it I'll be kind of annoyed. Everything else has it and both AT&T and Verizon both have decent sized lte networks now. I'd even understand if the new phone didn't have it because of battery life but the iPad has a huge battery no reason to not include it.

There will be some new tactile feature on the new iPad to replace the home button. The home button is missing in the photo used by Apple to announce the March 7 introduction. And the words "to touch" in the announcement are also significant.

I strongly believe in what you're saying Tony... even the "leak". I do feel like there is going to be something (besides the screen, processor, updated cameras) that will differentiate the 3 from the 2... Idk but i feel like Apple has something up it's sleeve for the 3. And def no 4G LTE yet... or 128GB.

I love the mic in the remote idea for Siri controlled browsing and search etc!
 
Regarding ATV3, the voice controlled remote would be way cool. However, if the offer that I bet it would be as an accessory/upgrade. They will offer a normal remote included, and the ability to use your 4S or iPad 3 w/ Siri as an ATV3 remote.
