iPad iPad Apple Store App Order Question

The iPad Air will be my first iPad purchase, and I'm planning on ordering through the iPhone Apple Store App at midnight PST on November 1.

For those who have ordered through the app before, do the new products automatically become available on the app at midnight? Or do I have to keep closing and relaunching the app to refresh?
 
And to add to this question, can I apply 2 Apple gift cards when purchasing via the app, or would I need to use a laptop and visit the Apple store website?
