On the new Apple Silicon Macs you can run apps from iPad or iPhone. So if you were to run apps from your bank or hospital or whatever, how secure are those?

I tried one and it works, but the app store says "Designed for iPad. Not verified for MacOS." Normally I use a browser, and when I visit a secure website I can see a little lock icon in the browser bar so I know it's secure. On an iOS or iPad OS app that lock icon is not visible, but it's in the best interests of these institutions to make it secure, and since it takes out the browser vector of attack they may be more secure. But when you're using an iPad app on a Mac, how do you know how secure that is? Would it not be advisable to wait for a Mac targeted app?

The security framework between iOS and macOS is somewhat similar, I would not worry about security from the user perspective (security of your data).

Now I have not really seen any banking apps or apps requiring elevated security posture being installable on M1. It is something the developer has to prohibit and actually, all I have ever seen, did...
