I got 3 Ipads at home, an iphone, two macbooks and a mac mini.
Atm i am controlling the mini with 3rd party keyboard and mouse but i really miss multitouch-magictrackpad gestures.
It seem obvious to use the ipads for this purpose instead of spending 150,- on apples trackpad and keyboard.
For some reason none of the apps in the appstore seem to work for me.
The issues i discovered are:
- they all require wifi. Connecting via bluetooth seems more obvious to me.
- the responsiveness is bad. to the degree that it becomes useless.
- none of the apps have recognized multitouch gestures so far, even so they claim to do.

Can anybody give any advice here? Using the ipads seems really straight forward to me....

I know that i am not supposed to bump but i really need some help here.
Otherwise i have to spend 80,- on a trackpad!

it would be wonderful if apple made this application, but currently there really isn't any other solution that I'am aware of.

check the classified/marketplace if you have enough posts, users sell/trade these all the time.

all right.
just bought a magic trackpad and the apple keyboard on a discount.
got both for 110,-.
thats fairly reasonable
