Hi,

I've seen a few apps enabling the iPad/iPhone to be used as a second screen for your Mac or PC (iDisplay, Air Display, etc) over wifi.

I've got an instance where I can't connect my machines on wifi - at the office. Is there any way to connect the two over USB? I've seen a guide for Air Display that suggests a method but it seems to be Mac only; I can't get this to work on my iPad 2.

Any help much appreciated.

What exactly is preventing you from doing it over wireless network at work?

Is there a protected network that the ipad can't access?
The PC does not have wireless access?

From that article it sounds like the described method will work. Is your ipad jailbroken? Does it have MyWi?

Hi,

as is standard practice at pretty much all offices i go to, the internal network and the wifi are segregated. Thus you can't use the 'screen' across the networks. Plus USB makes sense for extended use (reduced lag, and it charges it up)

Do have mywi but for some reason this won't create a network with my XP box. i guess i could explore this as in theory if i can get the ipad to create a network with the pc i should be able to 'tether' and Air Display will pick up the ipad.

I'll try again with mywi, but any suggestions in the mean time or success stories would be ideal.

Stop press - I've got it working and those previous instructions do work... it was MyWi playing up.

This is an amazing new world.
