Sorry for such a simple question but here goes. What do I have to do to use my ipad wifi at starbucks? I do have an iphone and know how to use the wifi with it. Is it a similar login with the ipad? Do I have to pay for the ipad since it's not undercontract with ATT?

Thanks for the help

Yep, you gotta pay, unless you know the manager like me ;)

Yep, $3.99 for a 2 hour session. Go to Borders or a Corner Bakery. Free wifi there.

Pick up a Starbucks card at the register and fill it with 10 or 20 bucks.

Go home and register the card, the registration process will give you an opportunity to create a free ATT WiFi account.

Once registered, you get two hours a day FREE - as long as you use the card once a month or so. Just use it for your daily latte and keep adding money to it.

With the iPad, pick the ATT WiFi in Starbucks, when you start Safari - you will be prompted for your ATT userid & pw. The iPad will remember this and auto-connect in any Starbucks - at least mine does in several Starbucks.

Thanks for the replies. I LOVE the ipad but I think it is going back and I am going to get a 3g. I prefer to not have to depend on wifi.

If you use AT&T for your home internet service, you have free access to all AT&T hot spots, including Starbucks.

Never go to Starbucks, but do people actually stay that long there? I always feel the need to leave after finishing my food, haha

Depends on the Starbucks. The ones that are around me are nice and comfortable. One of them has a great patio.

Plus, I live near UCLA, so plenty of female college students around....:D

For me, the 3G iPad is a waste of money.

check out iPass Connect. For about $7 per month you get access to thousands of hotspots including starbucks. I've used it all over the world. A realy great service that covers both iPad and iPhone

Get a star bucks card. Most likely, you already have one as a gift if you drink a lot of coffee. The starbucks has a registration number. Once you are logged on. It's free 2 hours of wifi per day. Because....who stays at starbucks for more than 2 hours

Haha I do sometimes...I know they say that the free wifi is good for two hours after you register a starbucks card online...but I've found out on many occasions, that there really is no time limit. At least not at the stores I frequent. I typically do work there, or meet up with friends. I've registered a gold card which was free, used it maybe once, and have been enjoying the free wifi since.

More and more places free

Border's Books has joined the free WiFi bandwagon...

starbucks sucks, their coffee and $4 for internet, is BS. even my local Whole foods' wifi is FREE.

Yeah man.... totally...... blah......

The internet at Starbucks is free..... how hard do you find it to register a card and use it to buy the drink that you are supposed to buy while you sit there.

Starbucks coffee is quite good, depending on what you order. Their espresso drinks are made well and are consistent from store to store because of the uniform training their baristas receive. Their iced teas are also very good. I haven't found a place that has a better iced coffee than Starbucks.

Like has been said, the internet at Starbucks is essentially free. Just pick up a gift card for like $5, go register it with a username/password & you've got free wifi from then on.

And yes, I know that there are better coffee places, so lets not start a coffee holy war on a thread about wifi. Remember, for a lot of people, Starbucks is kinda all they have guys.

I've been using it at starbucks everyday.
It's good to have a registered starbucks card and you get free wifi access. The thing is I've been passing the 2 free hours and use it almost all day for free. Maybe starbucks wants everyone to leave after the second hour :)
