iPad automatic downloads wont turn on

In the settings for the app store where you can turn on automatic downloads for music, apps and books. When I move the sliders to on, they stay for a couple of seconds, then move back to off.

This is with an iPad 2 on ios5. Although it did the same thing on ios4 when it had options for books and apps. Was hoping ios5 would fix it but hasn't.

Also this feature works fine on my iPhone 4.

Any ideas what it could be?

I had this on iOS 5 as well. I "fixed" it by clicking on my Apple ID below the sliders, signing out then signing back in.
