Hi Guys and Gals,

I've just bought an iPad 2 3G. After doing some reading I am unsure that if I jailbreak it will the baseband be preserved?

These are the guides I've been looking at:
- How to jailbreak & unlock iOS 5.1.1 using Sn0wbreeze (Windows)
- How to jailbreak iPhone/iPad /iPod on 5.1.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 (Windows) (Mac)
- New ! Absinthe 2.0.4 (5.1.1 Untethered) Jailbreak Guide (Windows) (Mac) (Linux)

I did find somewhere that the baseband couldn't be preserved but this was posted before the release of these guides. A little advice please.

Sorry for an even more noobish question but, if I change the baseband what does this mean? Either now or in the future with new firmware?

Many thanks

There is absolutely no importance of preserving the iPad's 3G baseband as iPads are all 3G unlocked - as opposed to locked iPhones. It's only with the latter that certain (but not all!) BB versions need to be preserved.

Correct.

Besides that you can't preserve the BB on A5 Chip devices, that can only be done on the A4 Chip devices.
