So, how long will the iPad 3 battery last in terms of life span charging once every 2 days?

I think i read somewhere it lasts a 1,000 charge cycles before degrading, but think someone just picked that number out the air...

Any specs from Apple on this very question?

1K cycles is right and the battery will outlast the usefulness of the device.

1000 divided into 365 days equals roughly 2.7 years. Your formula takes it to 5.4 years. ;)

If you really want to know and understand the basics of batteries go here and read/learn for yourself. FYI: Apple uses Lithium based.
