iPad Bookmarks Hidden beneath Keypad

I'm having a problem accessing bookmarks in my bookmarks bar beneath the keypad in Safari on the iPad.

I imported my bookmarks from my computer, which are organized by folder in the bookmarks bar. Some of the folders contain many links. When I try to select a bookmark at the bottom of a long list, the iPad keypad is in the way. When I minimize the keypad, the bookmarks bar goes away, and the page becomes active again.

Any tips/hints on how to navigate, or is there a functional limit to the number of bookmarks that may be used on an iPad?
