iPad cable length

Does anyone know what is the bax cable length to recharge my battery. I have a USB extension cable that I used last night and I left it plugged in over night and it still hadn't fully charged. The extension is about 12" long.

6". I've also noticed that my Internet runs slower with longer cords and my phone calls lag with longer phone cables,

I have a 6' long cable I got from Monoprice for around $4 which charges in the same time the Apple one takes.
