I have:
a MacBook Pro (mid 2012, running OSX 10.8.5)
an Airport Express (2nd generation, running 7.6.4)
an iPad (MD522B/A, running 7.0.4)
When the MacBook is running with the lid open I can browse the MacBook Pro iTunes library and play songs - all is OK. After a while the MacBook Pro screen will turn off. (The settings for both for computer sleep and display sleep is 10 minutes.) I then stop using the iPad. Some time later e.g. one hour, I will pick up the iPad and press play. Nothing happens - the library is no longer availble. If I close the Music app on the iPad and then restart it, then connect to the MacBook Pro home share, I can play the library.
My question: is there an alternative to closing the Music app and then reconnecting to the home share?
Why can't the iPad re-establish the connection to the MacBook Pro? The hard part appears to be done - the Airport Express can wirelessly wake up the MacBook Pro. Why doesn't playing on the iPad just reconnect?
